Now that Spring is here we have been busier than usual. It seems that once we kicked off Spring Break a couple of weeks ago we have been going nonstop.
The girls both started gymnastics at BGA (Beaumont Gymnastics Academy) three weeks ago. They absolutely LOVE it! It really works out because both of their classes are on Tuesdays at 4:00. Katy is in the preschool gym and Brylie is in the "big" gym just across the hall. I can actually stand in between the two and watch them both at the same time. Brylie's favorite so far is learning to do backbends and prefect her cartwheel. Katy loves the bars (no surprise there) and the trampoline. They both really love jumping into the big foam pit. (That was always one of my favorites too.) Katy's size really shows as she is by far the smallest in her class of 3 year olds. In fact she is about a head smaller than them all. However, she is also stronger then all of them too. Her teacher is amazed by her arm strength and by the fact that after only 2 weeks she was ahead of her entire class. She can flip over the bars, jump the vault, walk the beam, hold herself up on the parallel bars while swinging her legs, and even walk across the parallel bars like a bear all without a bit of help from her coach. Brylie is doing really well too. She has almost mastered her backbend and has learned to spin on the beam without falling off. By the time they are through with class they are both completely wore out and ready to come home for dinner, bath, and bed.
Wednesdays are our Awana nights at church from 6:00-7:30. Both of the girls have a really great time and it gives Mitchell and I an hour and a half of kid free time. If you don't know, Awanas is an international church program for children ages 2 to 6th grade. They teach children all about the Bible in a fun way that includes crafts, music, games, skits, movies, etc. Katy's age group is called the Puggles, and Brylie's is the Hang Gliders. Each week Katy's group gets a lesson sheet with a Bible verse and story, as well as at home activities that further the lesson for each day following up to the next Wednesday. Brylie's group reminds me of Girl Scouts. They get a vest and a book that they bring with them. The book has their lessons and at home activities in it, along with memory verses and worksheets that they recite/complete to move on the the next lesson. Once they reach a certain point in their book they get either a patch, wings, or jewels for their vest. (Hence the Girl Scout analogy.) It really is a fantastic program for helping children lead a Christian life and learn to walk with God.
We have been spending a lot of time enjoying the amazing Spring weather. The girls love to help Lola in the garden. Every morning the first thing they do when they wake up is pick snap peas from the garden for a yummy morning snack. The garden is overflowing with pretty flowers and fruits and vegetables of every kind. When we aren't in the backyard we are at the park. We go on a park date with friends about once a week. While the kids play and ride bikes the ladies walk around the track while the boys play basketball. It's a fun way to soak up some Vitamin D.
Mitchell has been working really hard at his diet. He has already lost over 30 lbs and is still counting them down. He even joined a gym with Jory and Jared. It is a super nice, brand new gym with all the works. The girls love to go too because they have an enormous play area and movie theater room. Mitchell gets healthy and the girls get happy lol.
Well, sorry this post is so long but like I said, we've been busy!
